Summer break is just about over but there’s a good chance a lot of parents are tired of hearing their kids tell them they’re bored.  Today we’ll tell you how a couple of teens in Kentucky handled the boredom

A Louisville mother says she tried to punish her son by making him mow lawns for free. But it backfired — he enjoyed it.

Now, it has turned into a community service project for a group of teens who were tired of being bored during summer break.

Barbara Wilson told her son Travis to cut a couple of her neighbor’s lawns as punishment. By the time she got home from work he had cut eight yards, front and back. She says he loves doing it

Travis loved it so much he got his two brothers and a cousin on board. They say they cut lawns for free for people who can’t get out and do it themselves.

The boys are 14 and 15 years old, and they are going door-to-door to spread news about their work. Wilson said because they’re young black males, people are a little afraid to open their door…but they’re much more welcome when the boys says ‘it’s free and they’re doing it to stay out of trouble, and to take care of the community.'” The don’t take any payment and the boys refuse any money that’s offered.

But the charity has taken a toll on vehicles – getting the boys to lawns that need mowing and on equipment and gas so they’re asking for support on Facebook and through a Go fund me account where those wanting to help can make donations.

So far, they’ve made $1,600 and learned the value of hard work.
