Girls who identify as boys will now be allowed to join the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. One social commentator says that means churches must sever ties with the group.
Todd Starnes, reporting for Fox news says the policy change takes effect immediately and has parents asking some very pointed questions: Will transgender children be able to share tents and bathrooms with heterosexual boys?
Scout spokesperson Rebecca Rausch told the Associated Press, “For more than 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America…..has deferred to the information on an individual’s birth certificate to determine eligibility for our single-gender programs,” “However, that approach is no longer sufficient as communities and state laws are interpreting gender identity differently, and these laws vary widely from state to state.
Starnes said he predicted the Boy Scouts would eventually abdicate their long-cherished traditions to the social justice warriors and in the process, they sacrificed honor and courage on the altar of political correctness. As a result, he says the time has come for every church and every parent in America to sever ties with the Boy Scouts.
Tony Perkins, the president of the Family Research Council agrees. He calls it, “Exhibit A of the insatiable demands of those pushing this sexual anarchy.”
Starnes and others say there is an option recommending Trail Life USA, a Christ-centered scouting program that has exploded in growth since its founding in 2014.
