With terror attacks coming to US soil and a dubious plan from Washington to stop them….how can we best live with the fear that results?

Thom Rainer, the president and CEO of  Lifeway Christian Resources has five suggestions for coping with the fear that many are feeling these days.

First, greater and deeper prayer. Remind yourself that God is always there to hear our petitions, our needs, and our fears. He is the Comforter. He is the Victor. He removes the fear with His assurance and promises.

Be courageous. God’s Word tells us countless times to be courageous or not to fear. God can remove fear.

Focus on the promises of God. You’ll find it to be an affirmation of how much God loves and cares for us.

Christ’s love overcomes hatred and bigotry. Rainer says There is no greater example than the cross. And while it might be tempting to think that some violent and vile people do not deserve love and forgiveness – we should quickly remember that we don’t either.

And Focus on sharing the love of the gospel with others.

There may not be a better time to demonstrate and share the love of Christ than the times in which we live. People are looking for hope. Christ is such hope.

Rainer admits that we live in perilous days. But reminds us that we also live in days of great opportunity. May more people see Christ in all that we say and do.
