The Bible is now part of the curriculum in Kentucky public schools….and we wish a happy 80th anniversary to a Michigan couple

Kentucky’s public schools will be able to openly teach the Bible in the classroom starting today.  Governor Matt Bevin signed a bill that gives local school boards the power to create a Bible literacy class.

Supporters of the law say students must understand the role the Bible has played in setting the foundation for the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.

Not surprisingly, the American Civil Liberties Union isn’t happy about the new law but Governor Blevin pointed out, “You could be an atheist, and you would appreciate there’s a lot of wisdom in the Bible.”

And two lifelong lovebirds celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary on June 25 at their assisted living facility, Pilgrim Manor, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Donald and Vivian Hart, both 99, ate cake and reminisced about their 1937 wedding day with their closest family and friends.

Donald recalled their ceremony being a “small wedding,” celebrating alongside his bride with the song “’When Your Hair Has Turned to Silver” by Perry Como.

He told ABC news, “Now we fulfilled the song we’ve been singing. It seems to have come so suddenly.” He was talking about the sentimental lyrics, “When your hair has turned to silver I will love you just the same.”

Vivian’s secret to a successful marriage? “Always be sure to put God first in your life.”
