In Massachusetts, a state trooper stops a suicidal man from jumping off a bridge.

Alarming data shows that suicide rates have risen dramatically since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Massachusetts State Police Trooper Paul O’Connor is doing his part to stem the tide.

O’Connor, fellow troopers, and firefighters from Boston and Chelsea went through some nerve-wracking minutes as they responded to a call of a distraught man on the Tobin Bridge. According to officials, the man was threatening to jump from the upper deck.

O’Connor knew that there was no time to waste, so he used all of his skills to convince the man to not do anything to harm himself. Thankfully, their conversation helped him get off the deck and back on to safe ground. Even then, O’Connor stayed and talked with him as he waited for an ambulance.

A heartwarming photo taken during this time shows the officer comforting and hugging the distressed man, something he no doubt needed in that moment.

Here’s another heartwarming story, every single day for the past four years, Mr. Joe has walked to and from the school where he works as a janitor. During that time, students couldn’t help but notice.

Working together, a group of graduating seniors was able to collect enough money to buy him his very own truck! Best of all, Mr. Joe had absolutely no idea what they had in store when they took him outside, with a blindfold on, and revealed a gift that truly showed just how much he means to them.

“Mr. Joe, we appreciate all of your hard work,” one of the seniors said. “we’re graduating this year, and we just wanted to show you our appreciation, so you never have to walk again.”
