Is the Obama administration favoring Islam over Christianity in its domestic and foreign policy?
After weeks of internal wrangling Secretary of State John Kerry declared last week that the Islamic State – also known as ISIS – is committing genocide against Christians and other minorities in the Middle East.
He accused ISIS of “crimes against humanity” and “ethnic cleansing,” specifically mentioning the Yazidis, Christians and Shia Muslims.
On “America’s Newsroom,” on Fox News, Retired Lt. Col. Ralph Peters said that the Obama administration was basically “shamed” into making the genocide designation after facing heavy pressure from lawmakers and rights groups.
Peters said that the biggest problem with Kerry’s announcement is that he limited the legal label of genocide to ISIS.
He told the panel, “It’s not just them, it’s not just ISIS,” asserting that Al Qaeda, Jabhat al-Nusra, Hamas, Hezbollah and other Islamist groups are also behind the destruction of Christian civilization in the Middle East.
He said that Kerry and the administration made the smallest, tiniest statement they could make and added this sobering statement;
“This administration still romanticizes Islam. It still finds Christians somehow distasteful. It’s almost as if the administration feels Christians have no real right to be in the Middle East. And Christians were there a long time before Muslims were – six centuries.”
