Nine-year-old Easton Watkins, who also goes by Eazy, had a fractured skull and remains in UK Hospital after a single-vehicle crash.

Noochie Varner, owner of Noochie Varner Baseball & Softball Academy, where Watkins plays said, “It’s tough. You know, the family is going through a hard time, the other kids, they don’t understand and it’s just not something you can prepare for.”

He said Watkins is like a brother to his teammates.

And he added, “Baseball brings us together. but 10, 20 years from now, the relationships that have been made is priceless.”

Gunner Tackett is one of Eazy’s teammates, He said, “When I have my head down, he gets me hyped up and all that. If he has his head down, I get him hyped up and he always cheers me on.”

To show their support, Eazy’s teammates got together over the weekend to make a banner to cheer him on and to wish him a speedy recovery.

Varner added, “You know, baseball isn’t going anywhere. So, we just gotta get him well and get him back on his feet and we’re all just trying to be positive.”

Eazy’s family shared on Facebook that he underwent a serious surgery Sunday to repair his skull and that the surgery went well.

They added they are so grateful for the community support they have received during this time.

Coaches and those with the facility said this is so much more than baseball. It’s about showing Eazy that they are going to be in his corner no matter what.
