“Anchored,” was a two-day conference at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas. It drew hundreds of students from Christian schools with issues such as sex and gender, scientific evidence that supports the Scriptures, and objective truth.

Presented by the Christian Thinkers Society and Prestonwood Christian Academy’s Biblical Worldview Institute, the conference brought together a slate of Christian thinkers and speakers to offer students a thoughtful challenge to mainstream culture.

Prestonwood’s Dean of Spiritual Development, Jeremiah J. Johnston said, “There has never been a more critical time to instill a Christ-centered worldview in today’s youth. The list continues to grow of individuals who have ‘deconstructed’ their faith and walked away from Christianity.”

Speakers included Sean McDowell, Alisa Childers, and Scott Stripling.

Childers, whose theme was “Live Your Truth (And Other Lies),” compared the cultural command to “be your authentic self” to the truth of the Bible.

She said, “In Christianity, authenticity isn’t everything. Holiness is everything.”

Stripling, who serves as both provost at The Bible Seminary pointed to the reliability of the Bible, underscoring how the numerous geographical references made in the ancient text are as accurate as one would expect from the Word of God.

And in a breakout session McDowell spoke on deconstruction. While the definition is debated, McDowell says he is worried for those who use it to abandon their faith.
