An Oregon fuel attendant was given a new car by an anonymous customer. He said his faith made him do it.

Last month, Bradley Rowe was working at the Safeway Fuel station in Astoria. It was like any other day, cars would drive in and Rowe would fill their tanks, chatting with customers while they waited.

A conversation with one customer turned into something he didn’t expect.

Rowe recalled telling the customer he was trying to get a car loan. “He said how much, he asked what lot. I said it was a private sale.”

That loan he was trying to get was for $2,000 to buy a 1998 Ford Explorer.

The customer’s tank finished filling and he was off, saying, “have a great day.”

The unnamed customer left the gas station and headed for Warrenton Kia.

Bill Ring, a salesman at the dealership, said the man looked around for a while telling Ring, it wasn’t for him, it was a for a fuel attendant he just met.

He couldn’t decide on a car so the customer gave Ring a check and told him he could deliver the good news to Rowe and let him decide.

Ring drove the 10 minutes to the Astoria Safeway and asked for Rowe. He told him, “You really made a good impression on somebody today and somebody’s really going out of their way for you. Here’s my business card and when you get off work, you can come pick out a new car.”

Rowe picked a 2016 Kia Sportage.

When asked why he did it, Ring said the man told him, “that everything in his life changed when he found his faith and now he had the opportunity to give back to somebody who’s in need.”
