On Sunday, a man killed 26 people, including the unborn child of one of the victims, at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. Today a look at just a few of lives lost in that horrific act.

Robert and Shani Corrigan were high school sweethearts, marrying shortly after graduation. When Robert enlisted in the Air Force, he was stationed near San Antonio early in his career. The couple fell in love with the area and decided to move back upon retirement.

Shani was active in the “women’s ministry” and headed up the church’s gift and food basket program for low-income families at the church they attended in Nebraska.
She was also well-known within the community for her outreach to children and young adults.

Bryan Holcombe was an associate pastor for the church. He was walking to the pulpit to lead the congregation in worship when the gunman began to fire.
According to his parents, Bryan had been involved in church work ever since he was young.
His father Joe said, “We knew when he was born that he was going to be a preacher. “His first word was ‘God.’ ”
His wife Karla also died in the attack. Her mother in law said Karla had the “gift of hospitality.” She had planned on hosting the family’s Thanksgiving.
