A theme park centered around the story of Noah’s Ark is bringing a flood of tourists to Kentucky.

The Ark Encounter park cut the ribbon in late February on the latest addition to the giant replica of Noah’s Ark: an exhibit called “Why the Bible is True.”

Answers in Genesis founder Ken Ham says the display will only add to what has been a successful launch of Noah’s Ark.

The American Research Group projected 1.4 to 2.2 million people would visit the park each year.  So far more than half a million people have been to the park since it opened last July putting it on track to meet that prediction.

Jamie Baker of the Grant County Chamber of Commerce said, “The ark did exactly what it said it would do: We build it — they will come.”

Baker also said the county is working to keep up the deluge of tourists with more hotels and restaurants planned to open soon.

The park has plans for more expansion as well over the next several years, including a zoo, a walled city and a replica of the Tower of Babel.

The centerpiece of the park is is a biblically accurate depiction of Noah’s Ark. The 510 foot ark is the largest timber-frame structure in the world.

Ham said of the ark and future growth plans — “they are going to grip people. It’s going to challenge people.”

Arc Encounter park is located in Williamstown, Kentucky —  south of Cincinnati and 40 miles from the Creation Museum. It equips visitors to understand the reality of the events that are recorded in the book of Genesis:
