Tomorrow is inauguration day in America.  Today, we have several timeless inauguration prayers from Billy Graham.

Throughout the years, Billy Graham has prayed for incoming presidents, offering petitions for the head of state and our nation that still ring true today.

Graham, considered pastor to the presidents, continually pointed America back to God through his inaugural prayers.  Here are some of his themes….

In 1969 Graham prayed for the nation. As Richard Nixon took the oath of office America was dealing with the consequences of civil unrest and changing morality.

Graham prayed that although the nation was reaping a whirlwind of crime, division, and rebellion it would not forget that if America turned back to God, he could heal the land.

In 2001 Graham prayed for unity — specifically asking God to bring about reconciliation between the races and the healing political wounds, so that we may truly become one nation under God.

As President Bill Clinton took office in 1993 Graham prayed for the transition.

He asked that God reveal to President Clinton that he is never really alone and help him realize that God can be his refuge in every circumstance.

And in 1989, as George H W Bush was sworn in, Graham asked that God give Bush wisdom, integrity and courage to help this become a nation that is gentle and kind.
