Jack Arthur, Co-Founder of Precept Ministries International, passed away last week at the age of 90.

According to Precept Ministries, Arthur, who battled cancer and Alzheimer’s Disease, died peacefully in his home early in the morning with his loving wife of half a century, Kay, by his side. The couple celebrated their 51st-anniversary last month.

Dr. Jerry Johnson, President & CEO of National Religious Broadcasters said, “We are encouraged by the promises of God’s Word – that Jack is with the Savior, which is ‘far better’ than this present life.” Adding, “We also pray for Kay to know the love of God in new ways right now. She will miss Jack, but we ask that God may fill her life with His peace and joy.”

After graduating from Tennessee Temple University, Arthur sold his car and bought a one-way ticket to Africa, beginning his 10-year missionary service with The Pocket Testament League. When he returned to the United States, he often spoke at Tennessee Temple’s chapel meetings. It was there that he met a young widow with two sons who wanted to be a missionary. That young woman was Kay, whom he would later marry in 1965.

For three years, the Arthurs served as independent missionaries to Mexico.

In 1970, Jack and Kay founded Precept Ministries, and the work of establishing people in God’s Word all over the world became their life-long mission. Precept Ministries International is now in 180 countries and 70 languages.
