Pastor John Riggs of Texoma Cowboy Church in Witchita Falls, Texas and four members of his congregation began a 40-day journey on horseback to the nation’s capital late last month in an effort to spark a spiritual revival across the United States.

Riggs told The Baptist Standard, “As we think about our country and the condition we find it in today, our hearts are broken over the moral slide and depravity we see in the nation,”

He added “Many people are looking to Washington to fix the nation’s problems, but  no man or woman or Congress, no president, no Supreme Court, can fix what’s really wrong with our country,”“We need to look to God and allow God his rightful place in our lives.”

Participants in “The Ride: A Forty Day Call for Revival” will travel over 1,000 miles from Texas through Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia, hoping to add hundreds of other riders along the way. They plan to reach Capitol Hill on November 7th, the day before the approaching presidential election

Upon arrival, Riggs and his team plan to meet with elected officials in order to encourage them to “honor God’s laws as they do their work for the people.”

For the pastor and his team, riding horseback to the nation’s capital is “a symbol of a return to our country’s roots.
