Looking for ways to encourage your child as a new Christian? We have some ideas.

Dixie Walker, writing a blog for Discipling Children says as your children come to know Jesus as their personal Savior, you’ll want to talk with them about pursuing Him in all matters of life as they mature in their Christian walk.

First, Model Bible study in your own lifestyle. Talk with your children about things you’re learning through Bible study. This will show that you’re participating in spiritual growth just as you’re encouraging them in their quiet times.

Establish time in prayer. Share with your child some answers to prayer that you’ve received from the Lord recently. A great Bible promise for children to learn is, “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart”

Encourage journaling. Your daughter may want to jot down any questions she is currently seeking from the Lord as she reads her Bible. As time goes on, writing down answers that God reveals will also encourage her to continue building on a close relationship with Him as He responds to her needs.

And Attend church regularly. By participating in children’s ministry programs, kids can learn much about growing in their faith. You should set the model for your children by attending Worship and Bible Study on a regular basis.
