Two heartwarming stories today about people helping makes others lives a little better.

8 year old Story Smith said she was watching the news last week and “noticed that the police officers were not being treated very nice lately.” She decided to write a letter to Krispy Kreme and ask if they could help her give the police department some doughnuts. Then, Story and the popular doughnut chain teamed up to give a total of 30 dozen doughnuts to the Clarksville police department. They delivered 10 dozen doughnuts to each of the department’s districts on Friday, Monday, and Tuesday. Police say Story was given a tour of headquarters and was allowed to sit in a patrol car and turn on the lights and siren a few times. The department wrote on its Facebook page, “Story didn’t just bring doughnuts to the CPD; she also brought a smile and a caring spirit that could light up any room she entered…”

And in South Bend, Indiana Jason Haney has been having some fun with the young patients at Memorial Children’s Hospital. Haney is helping with construction at the hospital where a couple times a week, he hides an eight-foot-tall Waldo cutout in different parts of the unfinished building so the children can try and spot the elusive character from their hospital rooms. Heidi Prescott, a hospital spokeswoman, says that Haney’s Waldo cutout really lifts the kids’ spirits saying, “It really helps take their mind off what they’re going through for a couple minutes, and it’s been very heartwarming.”
