A County in Nebraska recently pulled the health insurance for a deputy who was shot 4 times in an ambush.

On December 3rd of 2015, Deputy Mike “Hutch” Hutchinson of the Deuel County Sheriff’s Department exited his patrol vehicle to serve an arrest warrant on Neil Stretesky, who was wanted for Failure to Appear and Felony Attempted Murder charges.

With his backup at the bottom of the hill that overlooked part of Big Springs Nebraska, Hutchinson shifted his jacket in the cool winter air as he walked to the back of his vehicle to retrieve his ballistic gear.

That’s when he found himself face to face with a shotgun-armed Stretesky, who told him to surrender his service weapon. He refused and Stretesky pulled the trigger, but the shotgun misfired.

Hutchinson attempted to wrestle the shotgun from Stretesky, turning the altercation into a ground battle but in the struggle he was shot four times with a 9mm pistol.

Stretesky was shot and killed by other deputies.

Officials from the financially strapped county faltered on whether or not to pay the insurance Hutchinson needs to recover and support his family.  They canceled the health insurance he and his wife depend on, leaving them with a COBRA fee that runs about $1,500 a month.

According to Hutchinson the county commissioners have remained largely apathetic to his situation and have told his attorneys they don’t plan on ever making a decision to restore the deputies benefits.

Sadly, a lot of people find themselves in need of quality health care. If that’s true for you, here’s a plan you should consider ….Medi-share. Medishare understands that being healthy involves making wise decisions.

Medi-share members agree to live healthy, biblical lifestyles…..and that keeps costs down for everyone because medishare members share each others burdens.
