Parents will do just about anything for their kids. Today the story of a dad who does something truly remarkable for his daughter.

High schooler Eva Houston, from Omaha, NE, has been playing the trumpet since she was in 5th grade. When she entered high school, she joined the marching band in the first year.

The experience didn’t start off the way she hoped it would since she was forced to sit on the sidelines. Houston is bound to a wheelchair because of her cerebral palsy, making her unable to join her bandmates in line formations.  So she asked her parents to help her get more involved.

Her dad Kevin, emailed the band instructor to see what he could do to help. The band instructor said he’d be happy to get Eva into the drill, as long as someone could push her.”

Kevin agreed without a hesitation. He would be there to push her chair during practices and performances.

Kevin, who works for an insurance company, leaves work to help her four times a week. During games, he’s in the stands with his wife, but is on the field behind his daughter once halftime hits.

The devoted dad also happens to come from a marching band background. Helping her has brought back some of those happy memories for him. He said  “At first I was doing it for Eva and didn’t realize how much I’d enjoy it as well.”

Most of all, he sees what he’s doing as a way to connect with her more opposed to simply leaving her at school in the morning.  “You drop your kids off at school and you don’t get to experience their day with them, so I’m very grateful to be part of her life.”
