Dating shouldn’t end when you get married….In fact the experts say it’s a vital component to a healthy relationship. Dating your spouse doesn’t have to be expensive or difficult, but to maintain—and grow—a healthy marriage, consistently dating your partner is important

In her online blog, Ann Swindell provided some reasons why we all need to continue to date our spouses after we say our vows at the altar:

Time Is a Valuable Gift.

Making time to date one another in a season of life that is very busy (and shows no signs of slowing down any time soon) is a powerful gift you can offer your spouse. Time is a precious commodity to any of us, and when we willingly spend that time with one another, we are saying “You are worth my time.”

We Invest in What We Value.

Dating can be expensive, especially if a babysitter is involved.. but we invest in what we value. When We Short-Change Our Spouses, We Short-Change the Family

Swindell also has some suggestions for making the dating time meaningful:

Make sure there is an Intentional Connection: And guys that doesn’t mean watching a football game together.  Create space to talk.

Keep It Simple and Consistent: maybe its just coffee or a simple dinner out.

Sometimes Go Fancy: New experiences together are fun, and they create opportunities to bond.

And no matter what you…..make it happen.
